schedule, announcements, attendance, fees and more. Portal accounts for students and legal guardians are
automatically created when a student is enrolled. It is important that parents obtain their own login and that they
do not use their student’s login to access the portal. To obtain login information, reset logins and/or passwords,
please contact Amber Bonham abonham@crschoos.us (319) 558-2161.
For FAQs go here: https://crschools.us/students-and-families/technology/infinite-campus/
Annual Verification: Each year, it is important for returning CRCSD families to update their child’s emergency
contacts, fill out yearly field trips and laptop device agreements, complete eligibility for reduced school fees,
and update contact information. Please login to your Infinite Campus parent portal to complete it by September

School Bus Transportation
Routing Request Deadline Plan now!
Tuesday, August 12, 2025 is the last day to submit a bus request to guarantee a bus on the first day of school.
All incoming 9th grade students (From a Cedar Rapids Community Middle School) who live in the free bussing areas will automatically be routed on a bus for the fall. All 10th-12th Grade students who had bussing in 2023-2024 and live in the free bus areas will keep their bussing. Any changes to pick-up locations must be reported (see below). New Students OR New Address Did you move? New to Washington? We must submit a new bus request. To submit a bus request, fill out the WHS New Bus Request Form or reach out to Amal Alyassiri at alyassiri@crschools.us or (319) 558-2161.
No Bussing Area/Parent Responsibility The bus driver shortage has resulted in fewer available buses to transport the same amount of students. This means many buses are at capacity and students are riding longer. To make room for students that we are legally obligated to transport (living more than 3 miles from school) and reduce ride times, the Transportation Department will strictly enforce Parent Responsibility / No Bus areas. This means if a student lives less than 3 miles from school in the Parent Responsibility/ No Bus area, they will not be eligible for bussing.
StopFinder Bus Tracking App: StopFinder is a great tool for parents and students to track their bus to their bus stop. StopFinder is registered with each parent’s primary email address in Infinite Campus. Transportation also uses StopFinder to quickly send push messages to parents, for example, if a bus route is running behind or is having significant delays. If you have any questions regarding bussing, or registering for StopFinder, contact Amal Alyassiri at alyassiri@crschools.us or (319) 558-2161. *Reminder, CRCSD students can ride all Cedar Rapids Transit fixed-route buses for free with their student I.D.If you do not have a Google account, you may access the School calendar using the link below.

Campus Restrictions and Release Periods
Lunch
● Closed Lunch: Freshmen and Sophomores who have a class may not leave the campus during their lunch period, and they must remain in approved areas of the campus during that time.
● Open Lunch: All Seniors and Juniors have open lunch and may leave campus or be in approved areas on campus. Approved areas include the cafeteria and its open hallways, and the courtyard. Other areas, such as parking lots or athletic fields are unauthorized. Food deliveries are prohibited and will be discarded if delivered.
Release Periods Freshmen and Sophomores must have a completed Release Period Permission Authorization Form (9th & 10th Grade) to leave campus with the understanding that students who have a release period MAY NOT BE IN THE BUILDING OR ON SCHOOL PROPERTY during this time.
This form is good for the entire school year. You may revoke this privilege at any time by calling the attendance office 319-558-2161 Option 2. Administration reserves the right to cancel this privilege and will contact the parents if doing so. If this permission form is not completed, 9th and 10th grade students will be assigned and required to attend a study hall during their open hour. Missing study halls may impact in good standing or eligibility as this is a required class to attend if it’s on the schedule. Click the link below to complete the digital form if interested in your 9th or 10th grade student having a release period. You can do this later as well.
* Juniors and Seniors have open campus and thus do not need an authorization form completed to leave campus during their open hours of the day. However, if juniors and seniors are in the building during their open period, they must be in the library
9/10 Release Form Request
School Supplies
Supply needs will be explained at New Student Orientation, during the walk-through of classes, and during the first week of classes.
Teachers may have specific supply requests for their classes.
Recommended Supplies Sturdy backpack, Folders, Spiral notebooks, Binder, Pens, Pencils, Highlighter, Water bottle Calculators While the school will have some calculators available, students find it beneficial to own one for personal use. While a graphing calculator is an expensive purchase, a TI 84 Plus CE is about $120, it can be used throughout all 4 years of high school and the ACT, SAT, AP Precalculus, AP Calculus, and AP Statistics allow the use of this graphing calculator. Other TI-8X models or TI-9X models either have too little or too much capability and are not allowed.
If you are looking to get through a single year and NOT purchase a graphing calculator, Algebra One students (the class a majority of our 9th graders will be taking) could use a TI-30XIIS (currently around $15). It would work for one year, maybe two years. While any scientific calculator with fraction capabilities could work for this class, if you are purchasing a new one for this year, the Washington Math Department prefers the TI-30XIIS. *Lockers will be available upon request. Students should see our receptionist in the main office. (Lockers are not always convenient to use between classes due to them being assigned near the student’s homeroom class).
Technology
Devices
Current Washington Warriors, for any Chromebook or technology issues, please contact Scott McWherter at cmcwherter@crschools.us. He is available over the summer if your computer is having issues. Do not wait until the beginning of the school year to get it fixed if you are currently experiencing issues.
Google Classroom
Google Classroom is another tool many teachers may use to provide digital materials, assignments, or
assessments to students. Students are also able to create and turn in work on Google Classroom. Students may
receive teacher feedback on their work through Google Classroom as well. Each Google Classroom is linked to
a Google Calendar to help remind students of deadlines and upcoming events. It is also linked to student emails
in order to notify students of teacher postings. If parents would like a weekly update from their student’s Google
Classroom(s), please contact teachers directly once school starts to be added to the parent/guardian list.
Counseling Dept.
Student schedules will be available for viewing in mid-August.
Please be patient as counselors are not on contract in July.
The Washington Counseling Department is available to assist students with a variety of needs throughout the
school year. Here are just a few of the ways counselors serve Washington students and their families.
● Academic Planning: Registering for classes, schedule changes, opportunities for learning off campus,
advocate for students with special needs, counsel students on how to be successful in the classroom
● College and Career Planning: Job shadows, apprenticeships, college search and application process,
financial aid, scholarship applications, recommendation letters, resume building
● Personal & Social Support: Helping students in crisis situations, finding solutions to personal and
social problems, encouraging students to do their best in all aspects of their lives, making referrals for
more serious mental health concerns

Course Drops & Taking a Course S/U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory)
Dropping a class
A student may only drop a course with the approval of a responsible adult. Each student dropping a class must:
● Meet with their counselor to discuss how the number of hours remaining on your schedule will be spent.
● Meet with their teacher and return all books & materials checked out.
● Secure signatures from the student’s counselor, teacher, attendance office, and parent/guardian.
Important to note:
❖ Students in grades 9 and 10 must be enrolled in 7 classes and cannot drop a course for a study hall.
❖ Schedule changes within the first 10 days of each semester can be done through your school counselor.
After the first 10-day window, any schedule changes require students to complete a form, and receive
approval from a building administrator and the Area Chief of Schools.
❖ Withdrawing from a course after the first 10-days, will result in a withdrawal/failure for the semester
and a loss of credit.
Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (Pass/Fail)
A student may choose one elective course per year to be graded on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. The
criteria applied to all courses taken as satisfactory/unsatisfactory is as follows:
● Written parent/guardian approval is required.
● Students must visit their School Counselor for the satisfactory/unsatisfactory request form.
● Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory requests must be made within 20 school days of the start of the semester.
7
● Students must complete all course expectations as if they were receiving a grade. Taking a class S/U (or
pass/fail) will, at the completion of the semester, record the letter grade as an S with appropriate credit
for a passing grade of D- or higher, and a U with no credit for a failing grade. A letter grade will remain
on Infinite Campus throughout the duration of the semester and the S/U option will take effect after
grades are posted on transcripts.
● Courses that are taken as S/U will not be used to compute grade point and/or class rank nor will they be
computed for Academic Honors.
● Students with a failing grade who receive a U will still be subject to activity & athletic eligibility
penalties, just as if a grade of F were recorded.
● Students with cumulative grade point averages above 4.0 may choose to take co curricular -related
courses as S/U. Examples include all music, student senate, newspaper, debate, and yearbook courses.
This use is intended to prevent an A (or even an A+) in a co-curricular-related course from lowering a
students’ cumulative GPA. This use of the S/U option will not be counted towards the S/U limit of one
course per year.

which we sell for $2 each, as well as our end-of-the-year issue, Fingerprints, which sells for $7.00. Purchasing

event.
